SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit) requires 12th with Maths & Science. MR (Matric Recruit) requires only 10th. SSR has a higher pay grade.

Currently Navy non-officer entries (SSR/MR) are open for male candidates only. Female candidates can apply for officer entries via NDA and INET.
